We know that every home has a unique pet family. We’re happy to answer any questions you may have about our services. Please feel free to call or email.
For both the safety of your home and for our insurance, we must visit your home at least once a day and we cannot share pet sitting with neighbors or other family members.
Do you sit for cats or other animals?
Certainly for cats and other indoor house pets such as hamsters, rabbits, and freshwater fish. Please call if you have any questions about other animals.
What is a Meet and Greet?
A Meet and Greet is a time for us to get to know you, your pet, and your home. Lasting about 45 minutes, we review the pet profile and create a care plan that will support your pet’s current routine, giving you the peace of mind that your pet (and your home) will be well cared for. The Meet and Greet is set up after an initial telephone interview. The meeting must take place at least seven days before any booking.
What does “bonded and insured” mean?
“Bonded” means that Able Dog has guaranteed that its employees have completed background checks. “Insured” means that Able Dog carries liability coverage for property damage. These are important financial considerations in selecting a pet care service. Our testimonials and references provide more assurance of the care we provide.
What if my pet becomes sick or injured?
Our sitters attend pet first aid training offered by Dr. Brian Lapham, a well-regarded holistic vet, and by the American Red Cross. First aid kits are provided for each sitter. Whenever possible, we will follow the contact and treatment instructions you provided in the veterinarian release. We also maintain contacts with several emergency vets.
What happens if I’m delayed in getting home?
For your pet’s safety and comfort, we keep the sit schedule until you call when you get home. Accidents, traffic, or other factors could delay you even from the airport. It is very important that you contact us about any changes in your travel.
What happens if you can’t get to my house?
In our Meet and Greet, we will be sure to review your emergency contacts including a trusted neighbor. We coordinate with our staff and we also have cooperative arrangements with several other sitters.
